Ivy smothering Street light

Reported in the Grass and Hedges category anonymously at 12:51, Fri 25 September 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 days, 23 hours, 46 minutes later

Ivy is smothering this lamp post and the lamp post is in danger of coming down in a storm with the weight of ivy. It was listed to have the ivy removed about 2 years ago so hopefully it can be done soon before a nasty accident at a busy road junction.

  • Ivy needs cutting back.

  • Previously reported.

“As previously advised we would be concerned with a remote contractor perhaps working for WODC just cutting the ivy at the wall connections to kill it and leave that total dead weight on the post. We have a few similar issues elsewhere and are still working towards a small project to strip the ivy from all the offending units, thanks.”

  • Ivy is still growing and the weight on this lamp post is increasing with growth. Plus the increasing vegetation is providing a bigger sail to bring the post down during a storm.
