Public pathway Trees/vegetation encroaching on private property (follow-up)
Reported in the Report a tree problem category anonymously at 16:19, Wed 16 September 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
Please refer to Council ref: 2288578 on FixMyStreet for previous details.
You state: "The trees are on land that is maintainable by the Local Town Council and not by the County Council."
I had previously contacted Cherwell District Council about the issue, but they checked and confirmed that OCC was responsible for that pathway.
Furthermore, I witnessed the OCC working on cutting back vegetation on that very same pathway over the summer. This is when I was able to speak to the OCC Tree officer in attendance in person. Surely this means that OCC is actually responsible?
I would be grateful if you could supply a contact name, telephone number and email address at **both** OCC and Cherwell DC so that we can liaise between us and determine once and for all which authority will be rectifying the issue as already promised.
As it is difficult to place a precise location marker on the map, to confirm, this is the pathway between no.s 79 and 81 Sussex Drive (see photos).
This is an issue I have been chasing for approximately 2 years now with CDC and OCC.
Thank you

We have consulted with our colleagues in Highway records with reference to who is responsible for maintenance of the footway. We can confirm that OCC is responsible for the maintenance of the footway extents only, i.e. the physical surfaced width. any vegetation present is the responsibility of the District Council and not OCC.
