Cycle Lane on Newlands drive, Grove

Reported in the Road Markings category anonymously at 20:41, Mon 14 September 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

As a cyclist I have experienced vehicles passing at less than 2 feet from me. The Lane layout and road hump design, along with driver ignorance is creating a dangerous scenario. The cycle lanes have been introduced on the existing carriageway which are wide enough for cyclists but reduced the vehicle lanes for motorists. Furthermore the road hump design encourages drivers to avoid the hump by centralising their vehicles to the humps. Motorists appear to be content to stick rigidly to their lanes and not give cyclists the required safety distance when overtaking. If vans and lorries behave in this manner the turbulence is likely to destabilise the rider. Could signage help to alert drivers to this danger please?
