The two street lights that have been fixed in this area are now so bright that our street is lit up like a fooball stadium. The light pollution in this street is now really high, which is stopping us from sleeping. It lights up our garden at night. I am also into astronomy, and these new LED streetlights have ruined my enjoyment of this hobby. I would be grateful if you could change them back to the old Orange Sodium lights.

I am sorry to hear of this issue, we have had to replace the lanterns due to obsolete parts on the existing, this has led to a change to a lower energy output LED lanterns. I can arrange for shielding to be fitted to the 2 units , I have noticed a shield job for unit 10, was unit 12 also causing issue?

The lower energy LED lanterns are still far too bright. The old orange lamps were about the right light level. Are you able to reduce the output from them at all? There was previously shielding fitted to the affected lantern (number 10), but it was fitted in the wrong place so the light still illuminates our garden.
I would draw your attention to government advice on light pollution here: https://www.gov.uk/ guidance/ light-pollution
These new lanterns significantly increase the amount of light pollution and make certain night time activies (astronomy for instance) much more difficult. I would say that lantern number 10 is now actually a public nuisance.

Really sorry to hear of this issue. We have arranged for the shield to be fitted correctly, I can also arrange for this on column 12 if its causing issue.
We install the lanterns to the policy laid out and follow BS5489 Road Lighting. We will always take feedback on board and hope the shielding assists on this one once its in the correct place. The lantern has a dimming cell which dims the unit between 10pm-6am.
