Haulage route with 4 axle 30T HGVs
Reported anonymously at 15:22, Tue 8 September 2020
Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
There is a haulage route along the B4031 with 4 axle rogid 30 T HGVs aver 5 or so minutes through the village. This brakes up the already poor surface, and causes neighbouring houses to shake when these vehicles go through the junction and along the road. Most of these HGVs travel at 40 to 45 mph in the 30 mph zone. These speed violations are also common to cars, but these do not cause damage to the road and adjacent properties.

This problem continues now with a mixture of 30T 4 axle rigids and 44T 6 axle artics. I have counted 10 in a 10 minute period and this is the volume of HGVs in most 10 minute periods. This is a B-class road, and it is totally unacceptable for a village with a 6 metre wide road. some of these travel above the speed limit. I have previously menthioned that houses near the junction shake when some of these pass over a sunken gully grating or some of the very poor road surfacing. some houses are two to four hyndred years old and are likely to be damaged .
