Reported in the Blocked Drain / Gully category by Howard Spencer at 06:50, Thu 13 August 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The drains at the corner of Letcombe Avenue and Fitzharrys Road, on both sides of Letcombe Avenue, and the drain opposite, outside #21 Fitzharrys Road, regularly fill up in heavy downpours and cause road flooding at this junction. This happenened again during yesterday's (12/8/20) thunderstorms. The situation was made worse as a result of recent pruning to the bushes in the central reservation of Letcombe Avenue when the leaf debris was not removed. This resulted in a large quantity of leaves in the water flowing down Letcombe Avenue, across Fitzharrys Road and down the driveway of #19 and #21 Fitzharry's Road, which blocked the drain on the driveway and the drain on the front lawn of #19, leading to flooding in the garage of #19 and through the side door. Fortunately this occurred during the daytime and when the property occupants were at home and they were able to clear the leaf blockage from the drains on their property before the water breached their front door. In the future they might not be so fortunate.
