Driving on pavement in Castle Square
Reported in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 14:15, Tue 11 August 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
I live at 14 Castle Square and my path leads on to the pavement. A number of vehicles are driving along the pavement to avoid the parked cars, including a double decker bus which nearly hit me! I request bollards on the pavement as happens along the High Street as this will prevent people causing such a hazard. The traffic at rush hour has increased tremendously lately and there are often snarl ups with huge lorries, buses and a large number of enormous cars.I feel very unsafe leaving my house.

Thank you for your report and please accept our apologies for the delay in response. With the reduced traffic flows during the various periods of covid related lockdown we would hope that the occurrences that you mention have significantly reduced. If this remains or becomes a problem again then we would suggest that, in the first instance, you approach Benson Parish Council as they are best placed to consider if this is a priority for their wider local area. The Parish Council is also best placed to then promote any work with ourselves and secure the necessary funding for any practical works that maybe needed at this location.
