Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The speed limit along this section of the A338 is 50mph which I believe is rather excessive taking the above factors (Narrow pavement) into consideration. I believe reducing the speed from 50 mph to 40 mph along this particular stretch of road would be more appropriate even more so between Oxford Lane | Kingside | Grove Park Drive as it is often rather hair raising when trying to exit from either of these side roads with cars approaching you at 50 mph.

  • Thank you for your report. A reduction in the speed limit may be possible but would be dependant upon certain criteria being met, speed surveys would need to be carried out to ascertain if a new speed limit would be realistic, then there is a long and expensive legal process before any physical works can take place, this process costs several thousand pounds, I regret that Oxfordshire County Council could not fund such a scheme at this time. With regard to the footway width, there are plans for the footway to be 'sided out' to bring it back to it's full width.
