B4012 Wenman road-Thame Bypass
Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 12:37, Tuesday 4 August 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
I would like to make a formal complaint about lack of support, and lack of any action in respect of the B4012- Wenman Road. You have a lovely huge sign for vehicles driving into the south side of Thame staing through traffic follow round the ring road. You also ahve rcently diverted much traffic via this road due to closure of the A40 via Tetsworth. The traffic travelling along here exceeds speeds of even the section of the ring road which is marked 40mph.
This development of houses was built back in 2017 and in the time I have been unfortunate enough to be stuck here, the traffic has undoubtedly increased, but nearly all the traffic travels at faster than 30mph.
I know this, because 1. if I am traveling at 30mph or just under aand the car or lorry in front is still pulling away and away from me- it is speeding. My dashcam (GPS) indicates my speed, and would be used against me if I was in an RTA and there was any evidence to show I was speeding. Whilst some local resdients might be aware that streelights mean 30mph, how many non local HGV's and other lorries/vans and those you are diverting around here do you think do know what the speed limit is. Additonally the vibration and shaking from the increased traffic, coupled with speeding occurs numerous times a day. It starts early in the morning. We have regular racing cars and bikes zooming round as if racing, nighttimes and weekends.

Thank you for your report and please accept our apologies for the delay in response. The length of road in question is, as you say, within a 30mph speed limit due to the presence of streetlighting. Issues of driver behavior choosing to travel in excess of this speed is a matter for the police to enforce and therefore we would suggest, if you haven't already, bringing it to their attention so that they are able to investigate the matter fully. Thanks you for letting us know and apologies, once again, for the time it has taken to respond.
State changed to: Investigation complete
