Dangerously Leaning Trees

Reported in the Trees category anonymously at 11:44, Friday 31 July 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The trees that border West Witney School on Chedworth Drive over the footpath have been left to overgrow for years. They are now being strangled by Ivy and dropping into the path, it looks extremely unkept.

One has already fallen into the footpath and been cleared but dumped on the grass verge and there is now another large tree that is leaning towards one of the houses near the school gates.

This could fall at any time as this moved down yesterday. All the trees that border the school need extensive maintenance or removal before they all fall, especially with the subsidence problems on Deer Park and all the footpaths have been destroyed by the roots.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. The trees in question are on land not deemed to be part of the publicly maintained highway by Oxfordshire County Council in our capacity as local highway authority. Though upon inspection it was found that at points trees are low over the foot way, which is part of highway, therefore i will contacting the trees owner informing that trees must be a the statutory height as not to be impeding pedestrian traffic. Thank you.
