This pothole / sunken trench repair has been getting worse, over the last 6 months. Main Road – B4022 (Newland) Main Witney arterial road, leading from A40 Oxford into Witney town centre Damage across full width of the carriageway Sunken trench repair with a ridge against road surface, on either side - whole of which is some 2 to 3 cm deep (and to 4CM – See picture) on tyre line. Within the sunken area, parts are further sunken where road tyres bounce through and have scoured out the tarmac. Heavier vehicles and vehicles towing trailers, cause substantial noise and significant vibrations, within my home – enough to shape the windows and to dislodge pictures in walls – and to wake the occupants if sleeping. As this is a main Witney arterial road, it is heavily used, all day and night, is heavily used by Commercial vehicles of all types, including regular use by large commercial vehicles and large agricultural vehicles, many of which tow trailers, adding to the problem. It is constantly used by large double decker buses, as this is the main route into Witney, from Oxford and is heavily used by cars and commercial vehicles. It is occasionally used by steam engines. The result is that the making good of a trench across it, has failed and the ground, within the trench is subsiding, breaking up and being scoured out. My house is located only a few meters from the sunken trench. Any vehicle, but particularly any towing a trailer, or larger vehicle passing over, creates a substantial amount of noise and vibration within my house.
