The roads in marston have recently been changed as part of the gateway to heading improvements. Unfortunately, as a result of the changes it has resulted in Elms Drive in Marston turning into a rat run as drivers seek to avoid delays at the new traffic lights. The road is classified as a no through road (even though it isnt), and has a 20mph limit. Unfortunately drivers are now using it much more frequently, and are travelling at speeds up to 40mph. Its not that they are using it that is my concern but the speeds that they are now driving at, the road is a dogleg so has a sharp corner and i have already witnessed a head on collision between a taxi and another vehicle since the improvements which resulted in an ambulance being called. I am really worried about future accidents taking place and wondered if any traffic calming measures could be considered to force drives to slow down to the 20 mph limit? it is a really wide road so simple measures such as bringing the pavement out in certain sections could make a significant difference and potentially prevent a more serious accident in future. i am happy to provide photo or film evidence of the spends and danger if that is helpful.
