Unmaintained area putting off house buyers
Reported anonymously at 11:23, Tue 14 July 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later
This area has not been properly maintained for a very long time. It needs more than an occasional strim. Fallen leaves and cherries from the tree have remained uncleared, so instead of being a tarmac area, it is now an area covered in organic matter, weeds and grass where none should be growing. There is litter too. It is obstructing house sale, but is under your control, not ours. Please take a pressure washer or something to have a similar effect, properly weed the area, remove the extra small trees that have self seeded and remove the layer of debris that sits on top of the tarmac.

Monday 13 July: Wrote to South Oxfordshire District Council. Biffa replied the same day confirming they will handle the litter. The maintenance would be Highways at Oxfordshire County Council. Tuesday 14 July: Lodged FixMyStreet report. Wednesday 15 July: Strimmer and ride on mower team cut the grass areas, (as they usually do under the normal maintenance, which we appreciate has been disrupted by COVID-19). Thursday 16 July: Someone managed the path area, cutting back weeds, removing the self-seeded grass along the edge of the path. We are grateful for the swift responses so far and the hard work your teams have been putting in to get on top of the maintenance of this area. We look forward to the Councils clarifying who has responsibility for the remaining, tarmac area and for the litter clearance visit from Biffa. So, this is still in progress, but progress is definitely being made and we appreciate it.

Thank you for your report. Sorry for the delay in reply as the Officer who usually covers this area is on leave. I have now inspected this site and checked the Oxfordshire County Council's Highway maps which show what is deemed to be Highway responsibility. This section of land is not shown to be but would appear to be the responsibility of the Vale of White Horse District Council (VWHDC). Biffa deal with street cleansing on the VWHDC behalf but I will email the VWHDC Parks team to make sure they are aware of this report. This report is now closed.
