New footpath should have sign saying it is not finished.

Cycling to Sandford lock we thought we would take new tarmac path around new housing estate. It's a lovely path but stops abruptly and becomes a tiny, muddy, stingy nettled, track. No sign at start of path to say it goes nowhere. Would have stuck to road if we had known. Please put up a sign.

Thank you for your report.
The new footway is not designed to accommodate cyclists, this is why you will not see any cycling signage in the area.
Where the tarmacked footway ends, this links up to the existing Public Right of Way (PRoW).
Although the area between the tarmacked footway and the PRoW is not tarmacked, it was not deemed unsafe or unsuitable by the recently completed independent road safety audit review of the entire scheme recently constructed.
As this footway does not end (i.e. there is a route for pedestrians) It would not be appropriate to install signage to this effect.
