Request to save deer

Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 10:59, Friday 3 July 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

There are dead deer every week on the same stretch of the A420 at Besselsleigh near the Frilford roundabout. There aren’t any signs warning that deer cross in that area. Please can the highways agency do the right thing and look into this issue. I think a speed restriction of 30 mph would help greatly along that mile long stretch.

  • Thank you for your report. I regret that the location is question does not meet the criteria for the installation of a 30mph speed restriction due to the lack of frontage development. With regard to the installation of warning signs, we have checked the personal injury accident record for the last 5 year period and can confirm that there have been no such accidents where the presence of wild animals has been listed as a causation factor, I do not therefore feel that the installation of warning signage is needed at this time.

    State changed to: Investigation complete
