Birch trees adjacent to public footpath encompassing street light and encroaching over my roof. Who is responsible for their maintenance?

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Ref#0614-5817-7304-6148 job 2139271 Back in June I phoned trying to locate maintenance responsibility for 3 birch trees adjacent to the public footpath on Mill Green beside my house. They are encompassing the street light and starting to hang over my roof.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. We have assessed the trees in their location. The overhanging trees are not deemed to be part of the publicly maintained highway by Oxfordshire County Council in our capacity as local highway authority. You are advised to contact land registry to determine who is responsible for the land on which the trees are growing.
