Reported by Maryanne Steele Chairman AMRA at 15:23, Thursday 2 July 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later

To who it may concern

Residents have been reporting speeding vehicles and vans on the whole West Quay and North Quay within the Marina Development . We would like to request a 20 mph sign for these roads. It is mainly an elderly population and small children. many of these people are pedestrians . How do we go about this?

  • Thank you for your request. A reduction in the speed limit to 20mph would require certain criteria to be met and funding to be provided, the existing vehicle speeds would need to be 24mph or below for the installation of a 20mph limit, it existing speeds are proved to meet this threshold then Town Council approval would need to be sought and then a Traffic Regulation Order would be promoted, this involves a long and expensive legal process including full consultation, this type of scheme would cost several thousand pounds to implement, I regret that Oxfordshire County Council could not fund such a scheme. I would suggest that if funding is available, firstly you contact the Town Council to establish if they would promote the scheme.
