The cycle path exit on to Thame Road, Culham is too far round the corner to have any visibility of cars approaching to turn off the A415 into Thame Road. Nor do turning drivers have any visibility of riders coming off the cycle path. Why isn't the cycle path exit right at the junction? It is dangerous as it is made much worse that it is the road to a school with lots of cars and lots of children cycling and walking to school.

  • There is a dropped kerb right on the junction on the east side, but not the west. The dropped kerb is round the corner hidden by hedge.

  • Thank you for your report and please accept our sincere apologies for the delay in response. Having looked at the site it is apparent that the cycle track has, for many years headed into Thame Lane, by the short distance, so that anyone then crossing can do so behind any vehicle that is at the give way carriageway junction. This is not an unusual layout for a junction of this type. In addition there are not any injury accidents recorded at this junction however, we are aware that there are plans for new roads within the vicinity and, as part of this, we would envisage improvements to the cycle infrastructure being made as part of this project.
