Potentially fatal absence of white line
Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category by Paul W at 22:40, Thursday 18 June 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
Staff and pupils cycle to the nearby school. The road centreline marking at this potentially dangerous junction has become eroded and is totally invisible. The junction is on a bend in the road. Traffic approaching from Reading is inclined to cut the corner at the point where vehicles and cyclists arriving from the village centre are waiting to turn right. The absence of the central white line coupled with the documented post-covid increase in cycling, necessitates urgent rectification of this dangerous situation. The problem was reported in 2019 and again in 2020. We are now well into the 2020/2021 financial year to which the work was previously postponed. WILL THERE HAVE TO BE A FATALITY before action is taken?

Thank you for both your fix-my-street report and also your follow-up email. Our current work programme for refurbishing linemarking is, unfortunately, currently fully allocated. However, we have taken it forward and have added it into this work programme so that, if there is opportunity for this work to be incorporated when the team are in the area - they will, otherwise it will be picked up on the next programme of works.
State changed to: Investigation complete
