Speeding along Oxford Road endangering cyclist and pedestrians

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 22:21, Tuesday 16 June 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Please reduce the speed limit through the village to 20mph and the access roads on either side of the village should have a 30mph speed limit. The roads are narrow with no cycle lanes and I have been knocked off my bicycle in the past. The edges of the road are in poor condition and when cars force cyclists to the edge it is very dangerous. Accidents will occur.

  • Thank you for your report. The introduction of traffic calming or a reduced speed limit would require a request from the local council and a lengthy and costly consultation process. External funding would need to be found to carry out the consultation before any design or implementation could take place. In the interim the local council can apply for free issue temporary 'Speedwatch' signs that can be fixed to street furniture as a reminder to motorist to slow down.

    State changed to: Investigation complete
