Long series of potholes along Lyne Road

Reported in the Pothole category anonymously at 03:12, Sun 24 May 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

I have reported these potholes several times over the past six months and they are still waiting to be repaired. I had been told on each occasion by the council that repairs had been scheduled. I appreciate it has been a rough year with the February storms and then the Covid-19 virus lockdown.

As I have said previously, whenever large vehicles such as double decker buses drive over these potholes, I feel strong vibrations throughout my 1858 cottage, and my neighbours have reported the same. I often also hear clanking below my property, which suggests the vibrations are travelling through sewage pipes and other old underground works (Lyne Road passes a conservation zone). To my great shock, my kitchen cabinets fell off the wall recently, and the traffic vibrations from years of poor road maintenance were surely a factor in causing this to happen. I will now have to pay for my fan extractor and kitchen cabinets to be reinstalled.

As the bus service is currently less frequent than normal, it would be a good time to resurface Lyne Road. I am very worried about how things will be once the bus service returns to normal.

Here is a photo to show the extent of the damage to this strip of Lyne Road. There are numerous potholes further along the road, especially around the mini roundabouts, but this strip near my house is just appalling. You can see from the metal cover that there are underground works below this road which I guess are helping to carry the traffic vibrations.

Comprehensive resurfacing is long overdue from what my neighbours have told me. No superficial patching, please.
