Street light not working

Reported in the Street lighting category anonymously at 13:25, Tue 28 April 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 6 minutes later

Street light not working. I am sorry but I cannot understand why one light from the six in Wenman close wouldn’t be the responsibility of the council to maintain. This after all is on a public footpath and as it’s not working is a safety issue. I am trying to locate the correspondence regarding the previous work you undertook on this street light and will forward it if I locate it. However I have found correspondence between you and my wife regarding a bollard on the same footpath which you replaced, very strange that this you carried out this work on the bollard which is on the same public footpath as the light? This development is now almost 12 years old , the developer has long since handed responsibility over and as advised the property company don’t have responsibility they believe as we do it’s the councils responsibility. I look forward to your update and please find the bollard correspondence below From: Highway Enquiries - Environment & Economy <> Date: 1 May 2013 at 10:48:32 BST To: Pippa Sharp <> Subject: RE: Wenman Close, Witney

Dear Ms Sharp Thank you for reporting a broken/missing bollard in Wenman Close, Witney. This matter will be looked into next week and if there is a safety defect that meets the Oxfordshire County Council Policy for Highway Safety Inspections then it will be marked up and added to our maintenance list. We will make the area safe.s I apologise for the delay in replying to you on this matter however the workload is extremely heavy at the present time. Yours sincerely Lydia Jewell Local Hig

  • Good afternoon,

I don’t appear to have received any further update to my last email regarding the faulty street light W1 in Wenman Close Witney. I also now have a copy of the site development plan showing all areas that the property company are responsible for. This indicates the street light road and pavement are your responsibility. I can send you a copy if you provide and email address. Our please do call me . Thanks
