Footpath between Byron close and Ely Close.
Reported anonymously at 08:12, Wed 1 April 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council 3 minutes later
There is a footpath that runs between the back gardens of Byron Close and Ely Close, the owners at 22 Ely Close have fenced off the path, it is blocked and totally impassable. It follows the path of the old Wilts & Berks canal, and has therefore been open to the public for several hundred years. At this time of national and international pain and where we have to stay local for any exercise it is very distressing that someone should be doing this to us now. I absolutely understand it maybe difficult for you to take any action now but if you can please help us.I have been in contact with Abingdon Town Council and been suggested i try the County and Vale councils.
Acces to the footpath is adjacent to the electricity transformer on Nash Drive.
This footpath has been covered several years ago by the Abingdon Blog.
Once more i understand our difficulties and there may be a delay, if you cant help who should i contact,

This is, indeed, a designated public footpath along which OCC has a statutory duty to ensure it is kept open. Like the writer above, it is understood that enforcement is likely to be difficult at this time but action must be taken as soon as this is possible again.
