Majority of road drainage gullies blocked.
Reported in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 13:12, Tue 31 March 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later
There are approximately 8 inset kerbs with road drainage gullies on the B471, between Goring Heath Road and the turn off to Hill Bottom, of which only 2 can be seen, all others are totally blocked. Even with the slightest rain the road floods even in the vicinity of a larger gully. It is probable that the whole drainage system is blocked.

The large gully mentioned in my earlier submission is in fact totally blocked. Additional photos are of other drainage gullies along the B471 from Whitchurch Hill to Whitchurch, where presumably surface drainage should enter the River Thames. Almost without exception every gully is choked solid. I can only assume that the whole system is blocked, which would explain local road flooding in Whitchurch Hill.

Thank you for reporting this issue. The gully issue/blockage will be included in our forthcoming gully cleansing programme. As there is a limited budget, we have to prioritise high flood risk areas. Sometimes it is the volume of water that falls, and our drains are unable to cope, but the water eventually disperses. We will continue to monitor this on our routine inspections. Regards
