Dear OCC, I write to you from a number of residents of Station Road, OX39. This is the second time I am submitting a claim to my insurance company for damage to vehicle. The road is simply poorly design and the village and its use as a through road to connect towns is now exceeding its initial use. It is not fair to ruin the square of Chinnor - Station Road, High Street, Church Road. Nor is it acceptable or evidence-led that the only solution to this is to put double yellows. Quite frankly, OCC has not introduced any traffic calming schemes to protect the residents of Station Road and their vehicles, nor are they protecting the character of this historic village. Where are the alternative road layouts? It is submitted with your consideration that at present the only thing keeping cars from travelling along Station Road below the national speed limit is, ironically, the vehicles that are blamed for the congestion. This is is a village and it is not fair that residents of that village are penalised through double yellows. No one benefits except the HGV’s and those that are consistently breaking the speed limit. With the close proximity of two schools, a scout hut and a coffee shop it is not acceptable have this road continue in its dangerous format. I have also attached a snap shot of our Facebook group.
