4 mile tailbacks Westbound against 3 or 4 cars Eastbound due to non-phasing of traffic lights. AGAIN. Why is the body responsible for roadworks on the A417 incapable of grasping this simple concept?

Roadworks on this section inevitably cause huge delays Eastbound in the morning and Wetbound in the evening - significant delays of 1 hour+ and several miles, stretching to Harwell Campus or Wantage. The alarmingly simple solution to this is to phase the traffic lights. (For absolute clarity, I mean they stay on green longer in one direction than the other!) Note: It's very important to get the latter the right way round...

When I eventually went through at 17:30, the lights were only letting 5 or 6 cars through toward Wantage. It took me over an hour to get from Harwell Campus to Wantage.
The queue from the Wantage direction toward Rowstock had a max of 10 cars waiting.
I had to travel back toward Didcot at 7pm. The workmen (BT) were just packing up. The queuing traffic toward Wantage was still stretching back past Rowstock Roundabout.
RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!! Were in the 21st Century FFS.
What with all the new houses being built in the area, it's going to get a whole lot worse unless some Cockwomble at OCC pulls their ruddy finger out and communicates to whoever puts in a request to carry out work on the A417 to INSIST that they can ONLY do so if they cause minimal delays. Failure to properly operate the traffic lights at peak times will result in a heavy fine.
