Deer Danger

A4130 through Nettlebed Woods towards Bix and Henley many deer have been and are being hit by traffic at an alarming rate recently. Carcasses lie strewn on the verge in both directions. NO SIGNAGE EXISTS TO WARN DRIVERS OF THIS DANGER OF DEER CROSSING.

  • Thank you for your report and please accept our apologies for the delay in response. The section of the A4130 between Catslip and Bix travels through open woodland with, generally, good sightlines into the woodland itself. In general, deer and other wild animals should be expected to be present on roads of this character - especially when they are also within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, like the Chilterns. In addition, there are wild animal warning signs in place at either approach to this section and therefore drivers should be further aware of them being present.
