Unclear turning protocol

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 08:56, Thursday 30 January 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later

Peak traffic is 8.15-8.30 in the right hand lane to turn right into Larkrise school cars are not clear how many are able to turn right. Subsequently they wait, leading to a traffic jam down the Iffley Road and risk of being late for school.

  • It seems to turn right here, a driver pulls forward into the right filter lane and waits until the traffic is clear before turning (as you would let the straight ahead traffic have priority at a non-lit junction). Unfortunately there is not room to extend the right filter lane. If there are multiple cars waiting, (given that this is a minor road, and typically only an issue during brief peak times) traffic may need to be patient and wait until it is safe to turn right.
