Reported via Android in the Street lighting category by DAVID ARCHER at 22:23, Sat 25 January 2020
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
The updated street lights are ridiculous bright. This is a village. Not a city centre. The wildlife is getting confused as the birds are singing well before dawn. The light is also very intrusive to the householders near the lamps. Can these be toned down. Better still switched off and safe the power.

Thank you for your e-mail regarding the re-site of street-lighting column ..................
To enable us to proceed with investigating a re-site we would need a plan/photograph of where the current street light is situated along with where you would like it moved to. We will then send an inspector to site to ensure the move is within the council’s specification and meets the safety factors involved. If the move is approved we will draft a quote for the works and send this to you.
Unfortunately the street-lighting budget is strictly for energy and maintenance of our existing asset, therefore re-siting costs would need to be met by the requestor. Once the payment is received we can send the works order to our contractors to enable the work to commence.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you wish to proceed.

Not sure if my request was too complex, I only requested that the lights are reduced in brightness. I did not mention moving the street lamp in my original report. The new LED lamps, that have be fitted to many street lights in North Leigh, have been reported as being overly bright by others on FMS. The general request is that wattage of the lamps be reduced. This would save power, as well as not confuse the wildlife that night is day and residents don't have to wear sunglasses to walk the streets at night.
