Long delays at peak times due to poor light phasing.

Reported in the Traffic Lights (permanent only) category anonymously at 08:36, Thursday 23 January 2020

The traffic lights at the A415 / Hardwick crossroads are causing long delays on the main road at peak times.

This has been a very free-flowing junction for decades, but there have been daily tailbacks here since late 2019 that seem to be getting worse. Today the A415 tailed back to Cokethorpe, yesterday all the way back to Gill Mill.

I observed this morning a very short green phase for the A415, possibly only 10 vehicles passed, followed by green periods for both of the side junctions (B4449 and the Yelford road) despite there being no traffic waiting on those roads. The lights used to turn green for the side roads only when there was waiting traffic, so this is definitely a change in behaviour that's contributing to the A415 delays.
