Whilst I appreciate the short term measure of clearing this drain, the long term problem will continue when we get constant rain. I note that the drain is going to be inspected however, I would like details of when this will take place and what considerations will be taken into account when the inspection happens. Last time it was inspected the weather was light drizzle not constant rain that will highlight that the one drain isn't sufficient enough to cope.

Twice in the last 8 days this drain has failed to cope with steady rainfall causing flooding in the road and nearby gardens. I also watched a car nearly hit a cyclist in attempting to swerve around the flood.

Thank you for reporting this issue. The gully issue/blockage has been investigated. The matter has been referred to Thames Water as the surface water sewer the drain connects with may have insufficient capacity to take heavy storm water causing the drain to surcharge.
