Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
My husband's car was smashed into a few weeks ago on a weekend night. The driver failed to stop and he had to claim for extensive damage sustained to his vehicle. The police could not take any action as there were no witnesses. There is a problem with joy riders speeding through the village at various times. There is a danger to pedestrians and to homes/cars. I have also noticed since the recent extensive house building locally in Chinnor and the surrounding areas that there is a very loud noise of traffic speeding through the village at commuter times. It wakes me up early in the morning and is very loud. My window does not face onto the road but the back but the noise is very loud and intrusive. It affects my sleep as it is so noisy.

I live near to the green in the centre of the village. The problem of speeding runs through the entire village. When going for walks it is extremely unpleasant as cars go so fast through the whole village whether you are going towards the Inn at Emmington or towards Kingston Stert. Sadly the recent traffic calming construction has not helped the speeding problems; possibly because there is such an increased volume of traffic from all of the new development. Many commuters use the village as a cut through to the motorway. It's a shame the village cannot be access to property owners only as the whole character of the village is affected by this problem and it is very dangerous for young mothers with prams, cyclists, horse riders and just walkers. Also it's very difficult to get in and out of cars safely if the cars are parked on the road.

This report is not the responsibility of Oxfordshire County Council. Unfortunately we are unable to control how fast people drive. I would suggest contacting the non emergency police on 101 and re-report this issue. Regards
