Inconsiderate parking by parents

Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 10:00, Fri 17 January 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later

Road signs and road markings need to be made clearer in an attempt to encourage parents to be respectful and law abiding when parking their cars. This causes concerns for residents and can often be a hindrance to emergency vehicles.

  • This report has been closed. The parking situation in Old Reading Road is similar to the area around most schools within the County, a certain amount of on street parking has a 'natural traffic calming' effect and reduces vehicle speeds. However, if cars are parked in a dangerous position they are committing an offence under Section 22 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and should therefore be reported to Thames Valley Police. The refurbishment of the existing road markings has been added to the road marking maintenance schedule.
