No street lights in this area

Reported in the Street lighting category anonymously at 01:43, Wed 8 January 2020

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later

This area all along outside Hanover gardens is unlit. This may be a money saving operation but I’d like to point out how dangerous this area is for pedestrians crossing from the sheltered housing area being almost pitch black.

Also this area is well known for antisocial behaviour and having the benefit of darkness to hide, this gives youths a great place to get up to no good. It is also a drug dealing area. Someone was beaten up near here a while ago and left for dead. There have also been assaults on women. Much as I like the idea of saving a few pennies on the electric bill this area is not the place to do this. Please ensure the lights are put back on ASAP before a serious incident occurs.

  • Thank you for your report, to enable us to log the fault to the correct unit can you please advise using the attached map the street light number you are referring to. If the unit is not on the map this would not be owned/maintained by Oxfordshire County Council and would need to be reported to the developer/landowner direct. Unfortunately we do not keep records of private lights.
