Damage to surface of pavement along Main Street, W.Hagbourne
Reported in the Pavements category anonymously at 15:13, Thu 26 December 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
The pavement along the west side of Main Street is deteriorating due to being driven over by vehicles on a daily basis along most of its length. The photo shows the state of the pavement (on the right side of the kerb) is now in such poor condition that traversing this section is very unsafe, particularly at night with no street lighting. This was reported previously on this site, but no action has been taken to date. Urgent attention/repair is now required.

Some parts of the pavement were marked up for repair, but the lines are now practically worn away. The whole length of this section of the pavement requires resurfacing, not just the small areas marked. The real issue is that the whole length of the pavement is disintegrating because the kerb has been flattened down to the level of the road by vehicles using the pavement as part of the road (which it is not!). Action is required to reset the kerbstones to a standard height, and measures installed which prevent vehicles from driving across the pavement. Otherwise, this will be a recurring problem.
