An ashphalt pavement is needed on Shilton Rd, Carterton

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
This was reported in Feb and Sep this year. The heave rains of autumn and winter have again are churned up this sodden, muddy pathway. A pavement in Carterton is needed from bus stop outside 80 Shilton Road (OX18 1EL) up to junction with what appears to be called Price Way or Tumbler Way (access road to Estate). People going to and fro the bus-stop from the estate have severe problems in wet and muddy conditions. We’ve seen an older person slip over, a mother with a pushchair forced to dangerously walk in the busy road as she couldn’t push it thru the mud, and school kids’ shoes caked in mud. Just a few yards of tarmac is all that’s needed. As the estate has grown, there more people are walking out of the estate down to Shilton Road and it’s a mess and unsafe in wet conditions.

The response that there are legal negotiations are ongoing with the developer regarding this footpath imply that there is an argument as to who should pay. In the meantime young and old, mothers with pushchairs, kids with heavy school bags, slip and slide their way cross the mud.

Parties wrangling over who is to pay for an asphalt path, leaving the public at risk of falls, or being run over as we have to walk in a busy road to avoid the slippery mud.

I contacted David Wilson Homes, the developers of the Shilton Park estate, suggesting they should undertake this work as a goodwill gesture. I’ve had no reply.

Covid 19 probably now the reason it’s not being done, despite the fact that the number of people using this path has spiralled.
