Stationery traffic on Rowstock roundabout
Reported in the Current Roadworks - live information category anonymously at 09:32, Thu 12 December 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later
Although the temporary traffic lights are manned, the operator doesn't seem to understand where the weight of traffic is morning and evening. This is now the third day where there have been issues. This morning traffic was queued on Rowstock roundabout and no-one can move anywhere because the traffic is backed up right down to the roundabout. When you finally pass through the lights there are only 2-3 cars queued the other side. On Tuesday evening at peak time they were not manned at all and traffic was backed up to the A34.

I second these comments. Traffic to the Harwell campus (from the north) needs priority in the morning and traffic from Harwell campus (from the south) needs priority in the evening. If not done roundabouts further down the line are blocked causing traffic issues for all. Many thanks.

Work has started again in this area. Traffic last night was queuing up past Harwell site as far back as the Roundabout that turns off to Diamond. Meanwhile there were only 2 or 3 cars queuing the other side of the traffic lights coming from the Rowstock direction. There was a white van where the roadworks are, with someone sat in it playing on his phone. I'm guessing updating his Facebook status took his concentration away from what he was supposed to be doing. i.e. manually operating the traffic lights to reduce congestion.

Same again this morning (approx 08:00), queued back to Rowstock southbound and 4 cars queued nothbound as I went past (obviously because there are 100's or cars trying to get to the Harwell/Diamond site). If the Rowstock roundabout locks up then traffic from Wantage and Reading will too. Last Friday afternoon someone was manually controlling the traffic which worked well. Please ensure the contractors have someone to manage the traffic during rush hour.
