Very dangerous pedestrian crossing
Reported in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 10:31, Tue 10 December 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 hour, 16 minutes later
I previously reported this but the issue was closed with nothing further done which is clearly unacceptable.
The crossing over the A40 to the new housing development at Barton Fields is currently extremely dangerous. The cars fly by often at speeds in excess of 80mph and even just pressing the button on the crossing feels life threatening. Several times I have seen children run towards the crossing and have to be grabbed by their parents to ensure they do not go into the road and get hit by a vehicle.
I understand that originally there were plans to build a cycle/footbridge there. Please could you apply some pressure to ensure this or an underpass is built. The current setup is really unacceptable particularly since so many more homes will be built there. Almost all the other crossings of the ring-road have either a bridge or an underpass.
If a bridge or underpass will not be built, which would be a gross act of negligence, then at least a lowering of the speed limit to 40mph enforced by speed cameras in both directions MUST be implemented.

Hi,
I'd really like something done about this crossing. I've seen multiple cars run through red lights lately because they were going too fast to stop; or they simply didn't care. The crossing feels even more threatening to me.
I was told by a councillor that when the bus service is due to begin, they'll assess the crossing again. But this may be almost a year away. Something must be done sooner, before someone gets hurt.

Having nearly got hit by a driver doing an illegal u turn on the bypass by Barton park( I was with my child at the time) I feel more needs to be done to protect pedestrians. Cars speed along, do u turns, don't stick to the traffic light system and I even saw a woman try to turn into the slip road which is blocked off (which will be a bus lane when finished) , then when she realised it was blocked off she reversed into bypass!!! There needs to be more done to protect people, better signs(although god knows who thinks doing a u turn on a bypass is acceptable) there needs to be enforced speed limits and cameras put in to record this behaviour, and more importantly drivers need to be penalised for their bad driving, before a child gets hit.

Again this morning an incident of bad driving at the bypass lights by Barton Park. A scaffolding truck can't be bothered to adhere to traffic lights, jumps a red light to head towards headington, after using Barton Park in-road as a u turn area, sped back out left slip road from Barton Park jumping the red light. If my son was 5 seconds faster pushing his bike to the crossing he would have been hit by the truck. We had green man.

Again a truck is using Barton Park access road to u turn to change direction. When will something be done? Truck from headington to marston turns I to Barton Park swings around and pulls out back toward headington. V dangerous for people crossing with green man as they don't stick to lights system.

Black 4 door car doing u turn on bypass by Barton park(again!!) headington to marston, to turn back to headington. From one side of bypass to other. Jumped red light on Barton Park side to accomplish u turn. (would have hit any pedestrians as they would have had green man to cross)
