Slippery road from quarry traffic

Reported in the Roads/highways category anonymously at 19:16, Thursday 21 November 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later

The main A417 road at the juntion with the sand and gravel quarry near Stanford in the Vale is becoming more and more slippery. Tonight (21/11/19) the road is very bad and feels like ice for some distance in both directions from the quarry entrance. The banks have also been eroded away by the quarry road sweeper side brushes causing more silt to deposit onto the main road. Urgent attention is required to improve the road surface and prevent further contamination of the tarmac.

  • This is still ongoing today. I followed a road sweeper and the conditions both behind the vehicle as well as in front of it were dreadful. The sweeper doesn't clean the road, it just seems to spread the mud into s then and very slippery layer. Treacherous.
