The road markings confusing and dangerous
Reported in the Road Markings category anonymously at 13:45, Tue 19 November 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later
The road markings for turning right (driving north on Oxford road and turning into somerton road) encourage cars to move into a lane that is actually for those coming from the opposite direction. Confusing and dangerous. On first visit I assumed I made a mistake but on second visit I realised that the signage is misleading and I watched other cars make the same mistake. Would be worth reviewing the road markings before a crash happens

Thanks for this report - we are currently looking at ways of making this junction safer but funds are limited. Options which may be affordable include lowering the speed limit and adding new warning signs. We are also currently looking at the relatively low-cost measure of removing the right-turn lane(s) and reverting to a centre line so that right-turners can overlap before turning. However, this would still be awkward to implement owing to the immediate commencement of double white lines going north.
