Blocked/non-functioning drains
Reported in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 12:22, Tue 19 November 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later
The road drains serving the section of 'main' road between the two accesses to The Green are not functioning. As a consequence, even light rain results in a large puddle forming at the eastern end of the pavement. As the kerb then disappears under water, vehicles drive over the kerb and adjacent grass bank adding to the mud already blocking the culvert. The drains need clearing and the soakaway ditch into which the water should drain needs digging out. The problem is longstanding and was last reported by me in 2015.

I reported this about 4 months ago and added an update yesterday which appears to have vanished from the website! I met the OCC inspector on site about 5 weeks ago and he marked the culverts (5) with white paint,. Since then, nothing has happened. The culverts, which lead from the road to the ditch running alongside the Green, are completely blocked by soil and rubbish. I have tried twice (last time yesterday) to rod them through but it doesn't work. I fear that if the puddles freeze in winter there will be an accident, possibly to children who walk past here to get the school bus or to go to the village school. At the very least they will get soaked by cars that cannot avoid the puddles. PLEASE CLEAR the CULVERTS!

The puddles are often much worse than this but this picture shows the location on the other side of the road from the Village Hall
