Blocked drain at junction
Reported in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 08:24, Mon 18 November 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later
There are two grids, one each side of Shirvells Hill where it meets Goring Road. They are linked under the road and then the drain crosses under Goring road to drain away down the ditch beside Elvendon Lane. The grid under the hedge outside the house is overgrown and covered in mud and other debris which is preventing the road draining, causing a flood across the road in wet weather. The road surface is also badly worn because the build up of gravel washed down leaves a loose surface for traffic accelerating out of the junction into Goring Road

No change, this was flooded right across the road yesterday (15th December) during the heavy rain.

During the rain today (Thursday19th December) the junction was flooded within an hour of the rain starting. It appears that the grids on both sides of the junction are completely blocked, can this be sorted out quickly please before there is an accident

No change, I hate to sound negative, but the councils priorities are elsewhere so I imagine that this will only be repaired when there is an accident

Thank you for your enquiry. Due to current weather events we have issues with flooding all over the county. If you feel your property is at risk, please contact the emergency services or contact our call centre on 0345 310 11 11 to request sandbags. If this road is impassable, please let the call centre staff know and we can get the road closed or erect flood boards. Once the water has dispersed, we will take a look at the drainage but often it is the volume of water that causes the issue. We will monitor this area on our routine inspections. Regards
