Vehicles on double yellow lines blocking dropped kerb
Reported in the Footways and Pavement damage category anonymously at 12:53, Fri 8 November 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later
This dropped kerb enables wheelchairs and mobility scooters to cross Manor Road, Goring at the safest place to proceed east and west along High Street and enter Rectory Garden. Cars parked illegally, a regular problem, force wheelchair and buggy users to make a long detour or ride on the carriageway. As there is very little local enforcement of parking laws, a "keep clear" sign should be painted on the road at the dropped kerb.

The problem persists. Attached is a picture taken on 12 November 2019 of a more egregious example than the first.

There is no "Keep clear" road marking and vehicles continue to block the dropped kerb, but not all the time.

Thank you for your report. The budget for the installation and refurbishment of road markings in South Oxfordshire has now been fully allocated for this financial year. This site has therefore been added to the list of sites for road marking refurbishment during the 2020/2021 financial year.
In regard to the 'Keep Clear' line we are unable to implement this due to these being used to keep junctions clear so vehicles can access a road and reduce the amount of traffic. If vehicles are parking on/in front of the dropped kerb then they are parked in a dangerous position; This should also be noted that vehicles parking in a dangerous position are committing an offence under Section 22 of the Road Traffic Act 1998 which should be reported to Thames Valley Police
