Blocked river at boundary of RAF base, causing flooding upstream

Reported via Android in the Drainage category by Andrew Wilson at 19:42, Thursday 7 November 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later

There is a blockage in the Shill Rook river at the northern boundary of RAF Brize Norton.

It is inside the security fence, at a metal security grate and is causing the river to be about 1 metre above the normal level.

This is causing the public footpath at the Northern Western edge of the airfield to flood.

The flooding is backing up onto the Willow Meadows. Right over the prepared footpath used by many of the local residents.

  • The images show how high the water is backing up above the normal level, in the background.

You can also see the build up of logs and other detritus which is trapped against the metal security grate, acting like a dam.
