Badly blocked drain causing flooding across the road

Reported in the Drainage category by David Lyne at 17:53, Sunday 3 November 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later

There has been a big flooding issue on the left hand carriageway heading towards Long Crendon from Thame on the B4011 for a while now. There is a drain cover which is clearly completely blocked probably with leaves and mud on the Bridge across the River Thame on the Oxfordshire side of the border. When it rains hard the road floods across both carriageways and it needs clearing out.

  • Thank you for reporting this issue. The gully issue/blockage will be included in our forthcoming gully cleansing programme. As there are limited budget, we have to prioritise high flood risk areas. Sometimes it is the volume of water that falls, and our drains are unable to cope, but the water eventually disperses. We will continue to monitor this on our routine inspections. Regards
