Polished concrete more slippery than ice when wet

Reported in the Pavements category by Simon Haycox at 14:32, Wed 16 October 2019

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 3 minutes later

Large numbers of pedestrians and vehciles accessing an underground carpark has polished the concrete surface which becomes incredible slippery when wet. I slipped this morning but managed to not fall over.

  • Thank you for your report. We have assessed it and found that it does not currently meet the criteria for intervention, so will not be fixing at this time. The surface has a rough texture which helps with the grip to footwear. The area will continue to be monitored.
