Cracks in tarmack letting water in to house

Hi I hope you can help. Since we have had the rain over the last couple weeks, we have noticed our hall way floor getting wet and penetrating the original floor. The rain water seams to be seeping into the cracks in the tarmac on the path that runs outside our cottage (Craven Cottage), and down under our door frame. The cracks have actually got a lot bigger over the summer, I guess due to the heat / sun. As this is a listed building so we really want to have this looked at ASAP. I don't think it is anything major, Basically filling the crack with hot tar I think would do the job.
