Meadow Lne floods in heavy rain
Reported in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 11:25, Sat 12 October 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 5 minutes later
The section of Meadow Lane adjacent to the primary school floods in heavy rain. It was flooded yesterday (Oct 11th) afternoon. The 2 photos were taken 1st October after heavy rain. The close up photo had (clean) water rising up out of the road grill. The flood slowly drains away eventually, but it takes some while to do this, wetting many people's feet in the process. Water looks like clean surface drainage, not foul sewerage water that used to flood here a couple of years ago.

Thank you for your report.
All storm drains link to main (storm) drains, which are maintained by Thames Water. Many of the storm mains are not large enough anymore for the capacity of water that can fall in flash flooding situations.
Once the mains are full no further water can be drained away, and can sometimes cause water to surcharge back up the gully causing puddles to form around the gully or drain.
Once it stops raining the storm main will slowly drain away meaning the current puddle will also drain away. If the issue persists once the rain has stopped then we can investigate further.State changed to: Investigation complete
