Lack of markings at southern end Oakthorpe Place
Reported in the Road Traffic Signs and Road Markings category anonymously at 19:23, Wednesday 9 October 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
Although there are 'Give Way' dotted lines at the northern end (junction with Oakthorpe Road) that also indicate to those turning right from Oakthorpe Road that Place is a two-way street, there are none at the southern end. This leads to many of the numerous vehicles that make the right turn from Thorncliffe into Oakthorpe Place - often at speeds much higher than 20 mph: another issue - cutting the corner and making no allowance for (or being ignorant of) the fact that vehicles, and especially cyclists, may legitimately be coming towards them. There has not yet been a serious accident - but it must only be a matter of time (as observed frequently from No 29 Thorncliiffe)

Thank you for your report. This has been recorded for assessment for our 2020/2019 work programme. Since road marking work cannot be carried out on cold, wet and/or roads that have received de-icing salt most of our lining budget is already spent or allocated. However, as this is new works it will be subject to assessment so may fail the Department for Transports requirements fore such markings.
State changed to: Investigation complete
