Sunken carriageway on approach to the Botley Interchange on A420 Cumnor Bypass
Reported in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 21:28, Wed 2 October 2019
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 2 minutes later
This problem was reported in August and deemed not bad enough for repair. It is frightening when following a high sided HGV which lurches from side to side when they hit this defect at 50mph +, not to mention the terrific jolt when travelling over it in a car. I cannot believe this is not bad enough for repair as it’s on such a heavily used road.

Thank you for your enquiry. Please be advised that repair to the sunken section is programmed for 16 November. In order for the work to be carried out it requires a road closure which takes 12 weeks to process. The sunken area isn't severe enough to warrant an emergency road closure. We will of course continue to monitor it in the meantime.
